Woman writing on a transparent wall, covered in sticky notes. What are your goals for your small business in 2025?

Goals for a Successful Year in Business

“I think maybe all of us, as entrepreneurs, there’s something in the back of our mind like, ‘Oh, I could do this,’ even if you don’t know all the pieces.” – Teri

“Having that courage to just say, ‘Okay, this is an experiment. I don’t know what’s going to work until I start taking action in this new direction.’ And it’s that action that gives you the confidence to keep going forward. But you don’t have confidence until you take the action and that action takes courage.” – Pam

“Really focusing on, ‘Where does the money come from? How do we leverage those things that are already working and stop adding new things that just distract us from the things that are working?’ So focusing on that, setting up systems around those things, and then really prioritizing making things easy.” – Pam

“That’s something else for people to think about, is where else can you be that you need to be?” – Teri

“Typically, what we do in life is what other people are doing in life as well. So recognize what you’re doing. And if you’re going to YouTube, you should probably be on YouTube.” – Pam

Setting Achievable Goals and Holding Yourself Accountable

“It might feel little, but we all only have so many hours in the day and so many obligations. So think about how you can move your business where you want it to be in 2025 and how you can do it with little building blocks.” – Teri

“At the end of the day, it’s that person saying, ‘Hey, did you write today? Did you write today?’ It does change how you do things. It might be worth finding accountability partners for something you want, in 2025, to happen.” – Teri

“I think if we keep stepping in our team’s way, they can’t really move us forward because they don’t even know what forward is.” – Teri

Renewing and Reinvigorating Your Business in 2025

“January feels like a little bit like a first date. It all looks real shiny, and then by this time of the year, the date’s over … So it’s like carrying those fluttery butterfly feelings at the beginning through the year.” – Teri

“We’re starting a new quarter. What are the exciting things that are happening this quarter? What can really get me pumped up and excited and motivated for the coming months? I think it would be good to set in some of those milestone moments of renewing and reinvigorating around each quarter.” – Pam

“By the time you get to October, there is a list of things that went well and a list of things that didn’t go well. We always give that second list a lot more weight than the first list, and so the year starts to feel heavy … So I think being able to let those things go and not giving so much weight to the hard things and giving more weight to the celebrations would be really smart.” – Pam

“Numbers matter, but so does what happened. Who did you touch in your business? Whose life did you change? Who loved working with you—even who doesn’t work with you anymore, but they worked with you for a season?” – Teri

“Sometimes changing location just helps bring new perspectives and helps you focus on things. Instead of thinking, ‘Oh my gosh, I need to do laundry, and I need to do that other thing, and I need whatever,’ when you’re in this Airbnb or someone else’s cabin, you don’t have to think about those things.” – Pam
